MAINTAINING YOUR INVESTMENT
Ensure that you obtain all guarantees, maintenance manuals and cleaning instructions for all components, fittings and materials in your building, from the contractor and suppliers.
Set up a maintenance manual and programme to ensure that the required maintenance is carried out as per the intervals specified. Failing to do this may nullify the guarantee on some installations (if waterproofing on a flat roof is not regularly cleaned and painted with reflective paint when required, the 10-year guarantee may fall away).
Inspect your investment regularly – a small crack or signs of rust can easily be treated, but once water penetration set in it can cause damage and have serious financial consequences.
